About Capoeira
Capoeira (kah-po-way-dah) is a traditional Afro-Brazilian art and cultural heritage. It is practiced like a game, using a variety of dance, martial arts, and acrobatic movements, and is performed in a circle (roda) to live percussive music and call-and-response singing.
Our Milwaukee Capoeira class is led by Professor Steve, a member of the Body and Movement Capoeira Angola Association founded by Mestre Angola in Salvador, Bahia Brazil. Mestre Angola is a student of Mestre Vermelho who was a student of the famous Mestre Pastinha. Steve has practiced Capoeira for over 25 years and taught in the Milwaukee area over the past two decades.
